Home Schooled Student

SUNY Ulster recognizes that each year there are many students who pursue a home school route who either participate in an Individualized Home Instruction Plan (IHIP) with their school district or look to complete the TASC (Test Assessing Secondary Completion) high school equivalency test.

SUNY Ulster welcomes applications from home-schooled students. We believe our student-centered environment with small classes, dedicated faculty and lots of personal attention to be a good fit for you.

If you were home-schooled and are applying for admission to SUNY Ulster, you must:

  • Have a passing score on the the TASC (Test Assessing Secondary Completion) high school equivalency test. (Only students who have reached the maximum compulsory age of school attendance are eligible to take this test.)
    or
  • Provide a letter from the superintendent of the school district in which you reside, attesting to your completion of home instruction that meets the requirements of Section 100.10 of the regulations of the Commissioner of Education (or equivalent for students who reside outside of New York State

For home-schooled students who have not reached maximum compulsory school attendance age, who wish to enroll in SUNY Ulster coursework early - take a look at our Early College Program.
