Message from the Foundation Chair

Anita PeckDear Friends,

As Chairman of the Foundation Board, it is my privilege to congratulate this year’s scholarship recipients.   The Foundation is grateful to see an increase in the number of charitable gifts in support of the scholarship program.  A meaningful and measurable impact is made upon the lives of our students because of you.

To date, we have awarded more than $3,500,000 dollars in scholarships to more than 5,500 SUNY Ulster students.  The annual scholarships granted have grown from a total of $15,000 in 1980 to more than $300, 000 in 2015-2016- a record high -all because of the generosity of our donors.  We could not have done this without you!

The U.S. Department of Education in 2015, designated SUNY Ulster as the only SUNY Community College listed in the top 100 Community Colleges in the United States with the lowest net price. This is the impact you have made to provide an affordable and accessible education to a broader spectrum of students.

I share with you an exciting new scholarship initiative founded by SUNY Ulster President, Dr. Alan P. Roberts on behalf of Ulster County 8th graders who aspire to be college-bound high school students. The President’s Challenge Scholarship will provide mentorship of high school students to better prepare them for a two-year college education at SUNY Ulster and the scholarship will guarantee free tuition after financial aid is applied. Join our donor community and support a student with a tuition free scholarship to SUNY Ulster.  Please contact us for giving options.

Congratulations to our outstanding 2016 scholarship recipients!  We are so proud of you!
And, from our Board of Directors, a heartfelt thank you to all of our contributors from our campus community, friends, alumni, civic organizations, and corporations that have made the 2016 scholarship awards possible.
